Nature is more important than ever these days. As the fastest growing county in Texas, Hays County has taken a proactive approach to setting aside sensitive lands and preserving them as parks and open spaces. The $75 million bond funding approved by voters (Prop A) in the November 2020 election will help increase access to nature, better protect water resources, and improve habitat.The Watershed Association has submitted several projects to the Parks and Open Spaces Commission (POSAC). After careful review, the POSAC recommended funding allotments for proposed projects, and the bond funding should be released in early 2022. Here’s a look at the Watershed Association projects:
