The Texas Groundwater Protection Committee (TGPC) recently issued its biennial report to the Texas Legislature. Among the several recommendations for legislative support are the establishment of a statewide fund to plug abandoned water wells and the establishment of a statewide evapotranspiration network.
Member organizations of the TGPC include the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Texas Water Development Board, the Railroad Commission of Texas, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, the Texas Alliance of Groundwater Districts, Texas A&M AgriLife, the Bureau of Economic Geology of The University of Texas at Austin, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. With such wide representation and expertise, the TGPC white papers and reports provide reliable informational resources on a broad variety of groundwater topics.
