A coalition of respected natural resource and land conservation organizations in Texas —including Heart of Texas Conservancy, Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance, Green Spaces Alliance, and Cibolo Center for Conservation—joined by water experts, land stewards, and advocates from across the region.
WHAT: PRESS CONFERENCE
Coalition calls for collective action and responsible land use planning in response to the catastrophic flooding along the Guadalupe River on July 4. The coalition will present shared priorities and a path forward for protecting lives and natural resources.

WHY:
More than 134 people are confirmed dead and over 100 remain missing following the catastrophic July 4 flood along the Guadalupe River. As communities grieve and begin to rebuild, a growing coalition of conservation and land stewardship organizations is calling for immediate action. The group will outline science-based, proven strategies to reduce flood risk and protect lives—especially as the Texas Legislature prepares to convene a special session next week. The coalition is urging state and local leaders to prioritize smarter land management, enforce floodplain protections, and plan more responsibly to help prevent future tragedies of this scale.
